Please find below details of a free (travel expenses paid too) careers event for bright disabled year 12 students and/or graduates to discover more about different career opportunities. It’s supported by big name organisations who will talk about the support they offer. Helen from My Plus Consulting is endeavouring to publicise this as much as possible as they are currently disappointed by the level of applications. It is a cross industry sector careers event for Year 12 students who have a disability. The purpose of the event is:

To raise the career aspirations and motivations of young disabled people, many of whom do not consider a career with a reputable organisation as a possibility.
To educate the students about the different industries and functions within them.
To educate the students about the different career paths open to them.
To talk about the support that is available to disabled individuals in the workplace.

The event is being hosted by some of the largest employers in the UK who offer school leaver programmes, apprenticeships and / or graduate opportunities. The organisations taking part include: Linklaters LLP, Citi, Ernst and Young, Shell, National Grid and Edf Energy.
The event is being held in central London on the 12th July; there is no cost to attend and travel expenses will be reimbursed. For more information please click on the link below:

Walsall Short Breaks (summer 2013)

Short breaks form part of a continuum of services, which support children with disabilities and their families. Short breaks are provided to give disabled children and young people enjoyable experiences away from their primary carers, thereby contributing to their personal and social development and reducing social isolation. (up to the age of 18 years).
