On 23rd of September a group of young people got together in the second workshop to look at transition. The theme was ‘Moving On’. At the first event in February the young people had asked to have their voices heard. To achieve this we invited a panel of bosses from health, education and social care and Walsall’s mayor Councillor Gary Clarke to attend. The young people then asked the questions that they wanted answers to regarding their issues around leaving school, getting a job and living independently.
It was a really powerful day and everyone had a great time. The panel agreed on several actions which they will work on until we all meet again.
The team are arranging a follow up day in February where the panel will give feedback on that actions they promised to do.
Louise Hughes, Assistant Director Children’s Services, who was one of the panel has sent a message to say:
”To all the YP and adults involved…great event …good to hear the VOICE of YP. Just to let you all know that i am following up on the actions I agreed to look at yesterday. Further information to follow next week. Have a good weekend everyone”
