Staying Positive

Posted on August 31st, 2010 by admin

In April and May this year eight young people completed the staying positive workshops organised by the team through the Expert Patient Programme and funded by the National Lottery. Our very own Lateefa (pictured) was one of the course facilitators.

The Staying Positive Workshops are run for young people from 12 to 18 who are living with a long term health condition and are aimed at dealing with the issues you may have to face around bullying, making friends, managing your own condition etc. The workshops are run by trained facilitators aged 16 to 25 who also have a long term health condition and understand the issues. Several of our young people have already, or are about to be, trained as future facilitators.

We are currently trying to secure funding for next year but the lottery has changed its criteria and we no longer qualify, so if anyone knows of any pots of money available please let us know!! They cost approximately £6000 for one cycle.

As part of one of the activities the young people had a photography workshop, this is a picture of Alex having a great time, if you remember taking it, drop us an Email so we can credit you!!!
